Together, we are building lactation support that is accessible, affordable, and inclusive for every family

The Lactation Collective is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that provides accessible, evidence-based lactation medicine and support for every family throughout West Michigan.

Who We Are

Our community of lactation professionals, peer counselors, doulas, researchers, and parents comes together around one shared purpose: helping every parent and baby. [Meet the Team]

Our Values

We live out our values in every form of care we provide, through education, advocacy, research, and connection. We know that every parent, family, and baby's journey looks different, and we bring the tools, experience, and openness to support you at every stage.

Education Accurate, judgment-free lactation information for families, medical staff, and birth workers.

Advocacy Policy and healthcare systems that make support accessible regardless of income, background, or circumstance.

Research Asking questions and listening to learned experiences and clinicians to strengthen lactation science.

Connection Uniting parents, birth workers, and medical professionals together to support the child and the lactating parent.

A Note on Language:

We promote the inclusivity of all persons and create a culture of acceptance—this starts with how we talk about lactation care.

In solidarity with The Academy of Breastfeeding Medicine (ABM) and the American Psychological Association (APA), supporting the inclusivity of participants regardless of gender preference or identification, Lactation Collective chooses to adopt the following terms as appropriate: human milk instead of breastmilk, lactation and chestfeeding instead of breastfeeding, and lactating parent/person instead of a breastfeeding mother.
